Read on for some beautiful spots to visit, with lots to do and great for families.
Healesville
Healesville, Victoria is situated at the gateway to the Yarra Valley. Sometimes a pass through town, this area has grown with wineries, top class restaurants and art galleries. Healesville is only a little over an hours drive from Melbourne and the Healesville Sactuary is popular with families discovering the native wildlife.

Mount Macedon
Mount Macedon is only 1 hour from Melbourne and worth a day trip to this unique area. The magical mountain is stunning, particularly in Autumn and Spring, with colourful gardens and forest. Famous for the iconic Hanging Rock, vineyards and immaculate private gardens, Mount Macedon can be driven from one side to the other of the mountain in 30 minutes, but often longer with stops along the way.
Warrnambool
Warrnambool at the end of the Great Ocean Road in Victoria is a unique large town 3 hours from Melbourne. This spread-out town is less popular than some sights on the Great Ocean Road like the 12 Apostles or waterfalls, but the marine history of Warrnambool, epic ocean views and whale watchig make Warrnambool a great place to stay for a couple days or more.
Summertime really lights up in Warrnambool, with the foeshore carnival, markets and many holidayers and campers heading towards Lake Pertobe and the foreshore.
Halls Gap
Halls Gap in The Grampians is a wonderful and fun place to visit, 3 hours from Melbourne. From rock climbing, hiking, visits from natural wildlife or visiting the Halls Gap Zoo, this town in the Gramoians, Victoria is uniquely beautiful and memorable, situated between large rockfaced mountains.

Cape Paterson
Cape Paterson beach in south Gippsland is a memorable place to visit, not far from Wonthaggi. Cape Paterson is 2 hours from Melbourne and is unique due to the view and realaxed atmosphere. The beaches here are beautiful and protected, with great surf. Fishing is popular in Cape Paterson, and nearby shops include organic, fresh produce.
